The United States has finally given up. The Joe Biden administration has decided to withdraw from the 20-year-old war and human rights abuses.
The US marines have finally started to withdraw from Afghanistan and will be completed in September 2021. From 9/11 until today, there has been an unending series of atrocities in the name of the War on Terror., including abductions and disappearances.
Saif Ullah Paracha
Leading businessman Saif Ullah Paracha has been acquitted after 17 years. He was taken into custody by the US CIA from Bangkok on his way to the US from Karachi in 2003 and is being held at the notorious Guantanamo Bay detention center in connection with the war on terror. He remained determined and optimistic despite his heart disease and 17 years of heartbreaking atrocities.
After 17 years at the detention center, he could not be found guilty. Saif Ullah Paracha is currently the oldest detainee at Guantanamo Bay and is among 40 detainees who have been held since 2002. When this prison was built, the total number of detainees in it was more than 700. The stories of the Guantanamo detainees are very heartbreaking and sad. When history will be written, it will be a dark chapter of America; in which the worst personal, psychological, and religious heartache of the citizens were done. Moreover, the unfortunate prisoners were brought from all over the world in the name of the war on terror.
American nation may have realized that the innocent cannot be convicted and the brave human beings cannot be subdued by the force of oppression. The extent of the torture and atrocities committed against Sheikh Khalid, a detainee in Guantanamo, has not been forgotten yet. However, the decision of the US Board regarding the release of Saif Ullah Paracha is appreciated.
Release our Beloved
I wish that the Pakistani authorities and the concerned agencies would also acknowledge the fact that oppression and injustice against their citizens will never be fruitful. Have mercy on the individuals being tortured in the underground cells and at least hand over the remains of those who have been martyred to their families. The living should be handed over to their loved ones before their mental balance deteriorates and they cannot recognize their own blood. If they are suspected of committing a crime, they should be presented in a court of law.
On July 30, 2005, Masood and Faisal left their home to go to Peshawar and did not return. Atiq-ur-Rehman, a scientist, was abducted on his wedding day and has not been traced since 2004. Dr. Abid Sharif was taken into custody from the FC check post and is still missing today. Numerous honorable citizens have been indiscriminately abducted and disappeared.
Although many of them are safe in their homes today, this does not end here. In order to completely abolish human rights abuses and violation in Pakistan, a lot has to be achieved.
Return the Disappeared – before any further damage. Fear God.
